LL Cool-K

So I haven't said much but I applied for a lunch lady position at my daughter's school.  Next year Hogan will be going to school and I needed to get back to work.  I always said that when the time came I would like to work at the cafeteria at my kids school to help out with tuition and just when Hogan was being enrolled a position opened up at her school. Coincidence?- I THINK NOT!! God knows what He is doing.  He prepared this position for me before I needed it. What an awesome God I serve!!!  So to say the least I am jacked (that means totally excited).  Thank you God for the blessings you have given to me. This is yet another example of God's faithfulness to us.  He provides before we have the need.  A plus to working at her school is cool shirt, slacks, and comfy shoes not the traditional lunch lady attire.

Is today Monday??

I thought today was a Wednesday but judging from what kind of day it has been I'm wondering if it's a Monday.  We woke up today to pouring rain and I mean pouring rain not just little trickles. So Embree and I run to the car so as not to get drenched.   We drive on the highway barely being able to see 2 inches in front of us.  Then as we pull up to school and Embree opens the door to get out she says "Oh mom- I forgot today is my snack day and I HAVE to bring it.  Don't worry you'll have time to get it before snack time."  Oh yea- thanks that's just what I wanted to do in the flooding rain.  So I go home to get Hogan (which was home with his father).  I'm home about 30 minutes when I hear Hogan crying Mom Mom come quick.  I go in his room to him saying I am going to throw up.  I say go to the bathroom which he does.  Then I decide we were going to bring Embree snack then clean g-mas then go back to get Embree (because it's sooo convenient).  So out we go in the torrential rain to Homeland to get a cookie cake.  As we are going into the school to bring the snack into her room I glance over at Hogan to see his hives back and twice as bad as yesterday.  So naturally I FREAK (only a little bit).  I say to the teacher gotta go now.  We rush out the door,  from Del City to Edmond as fast as we can, and then sit in the Dr.s office for TWO HOURS!!.  Long story short he has a sinus infection, walking pnuemonia, and fifth disease.  Yet he is running circles around the Dr. office screaming I'm hungry, I want to go home, I'm bored-etc.  All the things that drive you crazy because that's the last place you want to be as well.  So to relax I got to go home and balance my check book and pay my bills.  Yeaaa for me!!  Hope your day went better than mine.  In ending this blog I would like to say that I always try to find something good in a day so here it is-  I am SOOO glad that it happened today and not on my birthday.  There you have it! Also, Hogan is going to be fine and doesn't have the swine flu which I convinced myself that he had.  Can you say hypochondriac?

Happy Birthday to Me!!!!!!

Well I knew this was going to be a great day from the start.  I was laying in bed thinking about all I had to do today when I heard birds singing very loudly. Now let me clarify this.  I sleep with a fan going so I DON'T hear any noise but God wanted to say happy birthday and yes I heard it.  So first I say thank you God.  Then I got to go to the zoo with my daughter for a field trip which was incredible. So besides getting lost trying to find the car in the zoo parking lot and having to take Hogan to the doctor immediately from picking him up from his father's work (he had hives from head to toe which the Doc said was caused walking pnuemonia--I know I spelled this wrong) nothing could have made this day go bad.  When God says happy birthday you know you've been blessed! Oh and did I mention that the kids both made me birthday cards.  How can it get any better than that. So here is my verse for the day==

Psalms 139:14-"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well".

Here are the b-day cards my kids made (awe!!!!)

DUST BOWL '09

Well today we had the 2nd day of Hogan's tournament.  We had winds in excess of 600 mph.  They played two games today.  I was told they won the first game (I couldn't see due to the 2 inch thick layer of dirt that lined my eyes).  They had another game right after that one in which they lost by one run (boo hoo).  They ended up placing third in the tournament. So after I got home, fed the dogs, and washed the 2 inch thick layer of dirt off my ENTIRE body, I could sit back, relax, and say GO PIRATES GO!!!!!

BLOW WIND BLOW!!!

GO PIRATES GO!!!!!

Hogan had his tournament today and boy was it crazy! The first game we lost in the bottom of the last inning when the other team made a triple play (yes I said TRIPLE play). They caught the ball but our boys still ran which they promptly tagged both of our runners out. Ouch!!  Anyway, the next game went into triple overtime, which happens when both teams fail to get 3 outs before the 7 run limit. At the bottom of the sixth inning we had 2 outs and they had 6 runs.  The kid at the plate hit a line drive in the air at our 2nd baseman who quickly put his glove in front of his face to protect himself and somehow ended up with the ball in it.  We as parents who had endured the OVER two hour game were more excited than the kids. The only downfall to winning this game is that we have to (I mean GET to) play again tomorrow.  YEA!!!  I'll let you know how we do. Until then GO PIRATES GO!!!

TGIF!!!!!!

If your life is as crazy as mine you are probably saying TGIF too!
I'll some up my week in one word: CRAZY.  Let's see, Monday night Hogan had baseball practice until after 7 p.m.. Tuesday he had practice again until 7 (we are trying to catch up on all the cancelled practices and games missed due to the insanely crazy weather).  Wednesday night we went out with Geoff's family for my birthday party (this evening I didn't mind). Thursday night Hogan had a t-ball game at 7:30 (which we lost but they did really good) and we didn't get home until after 9:30. Today I have been at Embree's school helping out some of my really good friends up there.  None the less, let's just say I am very glad to be home at least for now--Hogan has a tournament tomorrow and Sunday.  Anyway all this to say that in all the hustle and bustle that we call our lives we often forget what is important.  So I encourage you to remember to step back and thank God for all He has given you.

Ps. 46:10- "Be still and know that I am God".

Thankfulness is Contagious

I was encouraged to say what I'm thankful for and so here goes:

  1. My salvation- most important but most undeserved!!!
  2. My husband- this has been the most wonderful 12 years of my life!!!
  3. My kids- God has allowed me to stay home and raise them both!!!
  4. My "other kids"- as in the previous post- I love them both!!!
  5. My family- they taught me how to live and love!!!

So as I have taken a look at my life I realize how much I have to be thankful for.  I encourage you to do the same and I bet you we see all the blessings God has given you instead of all the craziness that is called "life".

My Other Babies

I just wanted to share with you how sweet my other babies are.  They are 91 and 77.  I didn't realize how old I was. Hope you find them as cute as we do.

Happy Earth Day!!!

Hogan and I decided to something for earth day today.  Since we can't eliminate the trash we throw away, and I like my light bulbs that we use, we decided to scoop poop.  This not only helps our earth but also eliminates the odor that protrudes from our back yard.  It will also allow us to go outdoors more often since the odor is done away with.  So enjoy outdoors today as I know we will.  And I say it again Happy Earth Day!!!!!

What you SAY vs. what they HEAR

So I have to tell a funny story on Hogan.  The other day he had asked his daddy if he could marry his sister (they were having one of their moments where they actually were getting along). G said you can't marry your sister silly. That's not right plus your kids will have six fingers and toes and your kids will grow a third eyeball on their head.  Well a week or so went by and Hogan and I were driving to school to pick up sissy when he looked up at me and said "is it really true that if I marry my sister that I will grow a third eye ball?"  I laughed so hard and just told the truth-- I said YES!!!!!

CHARACTER FIRST!!!!

I was thinking of what I wanted to post next and Embree popped into my mind and heart.  I wanted everyone to know how proud I am of my daughter.  She has gone to CHA for three years now and what a young lady she is growing up to be.  Every year she has won a character award.  The first year she won for creativity and if you know her it is soooo true.  In second grade she won two awards- one for sensitivity and one for hospitality which are soooo true.  This year she one a character award for deference which is soooo true.  It so wonderful to see your child grow on the outside but what a true blessing to see her grow on the inside.  She has blossomed into such a beautiful young lady and I can't wait to see her continue to grow on the outside but more importantly on the inside.
